Let me tell you something. Fact #1: We are not the smartest person in the room. Fact #2: Sometimes we act as if fact #1 is not true. We often act as if we are the smartest person in the room that we barely listen to other people’s opinion. We think that we are just brighter than the others, both experience-wise and knowledge-wise. Knowledge itself is not a state, it’s a renewable source. The moment we think that our glass is already full, we won’t bother to search for it and pour into our glass. Same goes for knowledge. We will never be over knowledgeable. There are a lot of new things every day that can give us new knowledge. If we think that we are knowledgeable, we will stop learning. Because the moment we stop searching for knowledge, we stop growing.
“The more we learn, the more we realize that we are not that knowledgeable, we knew only small part of something. And that’s not enough”
And when we think our glass is full, we won’t let others pour the drinks into our glass. We cannot learn from them while actually, there are a lot of things that we can learn from them.
On the other hand, if we think our glass isn’t full, we would seek for it or even let others to pour into our glasses. And once we are full and we are overflowed, we can share what we have to others. Our knowledge is not something that we should keep for ourselves. Thus, when we think it’s enough, it’s not. We need to share the knowledge and be blessings to other.
Question to self:
1. Which field do you think you are knowledgeable at?
2. Do you still learn about it until now? Or when was the last time you learn about it?
